Park Side School Donation

If you want to really have a good day today we can highly recommend browsing these images.  FOLK received a donation from the kids at the Park Side School Innovative Learning Center in Marshall, Minnesota, along with their handwritten notes and drawings.  The school is a multi-grade classroom (k-2) in Southwest Minnesota with 66 students and 3 classroom teachers.  They use service learning projects as part of their classroom goals.  This year the students chose our library to support when they learned about the devastation caused by hurricane Harvey.

The students brainstormed possible fundraising ideas and voted to make crafts and sell them at the Teacher-Parent conference night.

If you read the Children’s notes they included their favorite books….we have our marching orders!!!

Hold Please!

We have had a great outpouring of support since the hurricane and have filled our current storage capacity past the point of bursting.  Please hold your book donations for now and until further notice.  We don’t want to impose any more on the kind people who have provided us with free storage space, since our space requirements and traffic in and out of our used book storage space is causing problems with construction activities in the area.

We will resume book drop offs when we can, but that may not be until we can get back into our space at the library this summer.  If you can, please hold on to those donations, because we will certainly be needing them in the future.

Thank you all for being such great neighbors!

Rotary Club of Kingwood makes a BIG Difference,

Charlie Buscemi, president of Rotary Club of Kingwood, presents the club’s $26,580 check to Ryan Fennell, branch manager of the Kingwood Library. The money is the result of the club’s own contributions, as well as a grant it wrote. The club is still seeking additional donations at this time. The donation will be used to restore the library’s children’s workroom that was destroyed during Harvey flooding. Our Kingwood Rotary Club has a long history of supporting worthy causes. This donation reflects their belief that our Library is a critical and central part of our Kingwood Strong recovery effort. We certainly thank them for their support.
